Thanks Cel for the idea for a pregnancy blog! I know I'm still a little early into the pregnancy (5 weeks), but I couldn't help but share the news with my family and a few friends. July 9th was the day I found out I was pregnant. I knew that we had been trying since June 8th, because that's when I was off birth control. I just didn't think it would happen so soon. I knew my ovulation dates for last month and I made sure we did the baby dance. Aunt Flow was due on on the 10th, so I figured what the heck, take a pregnancy test. Not only that, the night before, I had a dream that I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. We went to Target, picked up an EPT because you can test 5 days sooner (just in case my period was late), and low and behold two lines showed. It wasn't as dark as the first line, but it was there! I said Oh Shit (yes I did) and called for F. He said, "Wow! Got you on the first try". LOL. I couldn't believe it. Since the EPT came with 2 tests, I decided to test again when I woke up the next morning. Sure enough a line appeared, but it wasn't as dark as the first. When Frank and I went to the store to pick some stuff up, I decided to do another test (because three times a charm), this time it was a Clearblue digital one. When I was done, I watched as the little hourglass was flashing on and off, and then came the word I expected...PREGNANT. That convinced me. We are very excited. I thought about last week when we went to watch Transformers. After the movie, I got up and felt very nauseated. The was another time where something happened a week or so ago where I felt sick. I shrugged it off as a fluke, and the term pregnancy never came to mind.
This is my second and I am hoping for a girl, while my husband is hoping for twins! That's OK for him since he isn't the one who will be carrying the babies around for 9 months and giving birth to them! All jokes aside, no matter what we have, we just want the baby to be healthy. I still have not seen the doctor because Kaiser is always booked on appointments in the OBGYN department. When I found out I was pregnant with R,(my son) I was already 8 weeks, and had my first doctor's appointment when I was 10 weeks. Kaiser has a new appointment system, so they do not have the new schedule up yet. I have been calling ever since I found out, that practically know my name. I mean people stress that the first trimester is the most important, you would think that Kaiser would get people in right away. Well, even before we even get to see the baby, I have to get an appointment for prenatal registration, which includes blood work, medical history, and so on. I have been waiting for a nurse from the OBGYN department to call me since last Thursday, but no luck. I will be calling them tomorrow.
As for pregnancy symptoms, I have the usual: sleepiness, moody, and my friends upstairs are a little sore. No morning sickness though. *Knocks on Wood* I didn't have any with R, so maybe I will be lucky this time around. I have a cold, in which I scared to take any medication. Just soup, liquids, and rest. I received nurse advice and was given a list of medications to take, but I'm scared of how it will affect the baby.
